New buildings at the school are finished.

Hi all, It's been a long time coming but the new buildings are finished at the school and I can start the Cigar box guitar classes once again. I start this weekend and will continue from now on. I had to change the classes for the last few years to things like jewelry making do to not having a place to do the shop classes but that has come to an end. I'll post pictures as I can. you can reach through the club or here, larrymcpheeters@yahoo.com

It was back around 1990, and I chose to join CCC voluntarily. I felt very out of place, since I was not there by court order, or as a last chance before going to prison. Seemed that at that time, most of the others were on some sort of "last string".

I wound up getting a staff infection from poor fitting combat boots, spent 4 days in hospital, and when I returned to CCC, I was released. For the best, I suppose, but I will say I learned plaenty in that short time. Life skills that I used later on in life.

Any how, my initial comment must have sounded terrible, and I am sorry. It was more meant as a thumbs up.

Hi Ted, I've been teaching CBG.  building and other musical instruments too for several years now but had to take a long break for Center Remodel. How many years is it since you were in the Corps? We no longer allow young  people who are trouble makers to be in the Corps. The Corps. is now a major training center for people who want to work in the forest and fire fighting. My classes are in addition to the regular curriculum. I teach on the week ends and holidays.

You mean to say the CCC is teaching cigar box guitar building? When I was in it, it was more or less a boot camp for young criminals, drop outs, and troubled youth who were being trained to be fire jumpers, and it was run by a bunch of sadist boot camp wanna-be's. Now, that was in Northern Cali, San Luis Obispo, and many years ago, but I am pleased to see things have changed.
