All Wood Box Fake Out

I have a cigar box that "appeared" to be solid wood. The top looks like a glossy natural oak. When I drilled the sound holes, it looks like the oak is only a thin veneer and the rest is mdf. The holes are beautiful but I am concerned with how it is going to sound. What are your thoughts?

A solid piece that resembles the inside of a classic acoustic build.

Comment by Moritz Voegeli on March 17, 2016 at 7:39am: I did a four-stringer with a Camacho box with a top of mdf: with a magnetic pickup it's ok, but forget to put a piezo or to play this puppy without an amplifier.

1) It'll sound awesome, despite the MDF.
2) It won't.
