This is the main unknown Neck timber I have using from my recycled Piano for the last few years, thought it might have been some sort of Poplar?, but a recent comment on my first enquiry mention another recycled timber with a "Greenish Tinge and an Unpleasant Smell", not sure if it shows up in these pics, but definitely has a Green Tinge, the smell is not unpleasant, but more of a sweetish aroma, all comments and ideas will be more than appreciated!!!

Poplar is one of my favorites.,,.I find it in black, green and even purple, depending on the soil it grows in .,.,overall I have used it the most for neck shafts .,.,

"Thanks Dave Lynas", was unaware of the timber 'Tulip Poplar', just had a look on Google, and it definitely looks like that's what it is, also Googled 'Mahogany Veneer', and I'm pretty sure you got that one right as well !!, "Well Done Dave"

On closer look I think the red one is Mahogany.

Might be tulip Poplar or common Poplar. It's pea green and has a sweet sawdust. Much instrument building happens with Poplar. The first wood looks like Padauk.

Also forgot to mention, the original comment that got me thinking, suggested it might be Elm ???

Forgot to mention, the larger piece is coated with Linseed Oil & Turps, the smaller bit Au-Natural, the veneered side is a couple of mm thick, and again, also unsure of what timber it is ???????
