My smallest amp. 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 4 inches. Started life as a tube radio. Then a multimeter and now a 1 watt, 9 volt amp. Vintage knob, Jack replaces a switch. Row of probe holes from it's meter conversion.

Something like this:

Sorry - typo.  "Wire".  So you could try routing one wire from the speaker to one terminal on the metwe, then jumper another wire (or wore, if you like!) from the other terminal back to the speaker.  I doubt anything would be damaged in such a test, though the meter may try to deflect 'backwards'.  If that's the case (or if no movement is perceptible), reverse the connections to the meter to correct the polarity.   If it were me, I'd risk it!

Thanks Maddog. I brought it to music tonight and it held it's own with 11 players. It's got a growl that cuts through and brings you out without playing loud. It's a hit.

What's a wore?

The meter had a whole lotta stuff connected to it that I removed. You think I could just hook it in series with the speaker? That would be way cool. I'm Leary though. Maybe more could chime in... Thanks Gary. Thanks Pick.

If it does work, I guess you could put it inline with the speaker wire - break the wore and connect one end to each terminal on the meter?  They are typically low resistance devices hooked up in series with the circuit.  It should deflect with the amplitude of the current flowing to the speaker...

BTW, this is one cool little amp!

Thanks Uncle John. It was fun to make. Wish I could make the meter work. :^)
