I like this color combination for CBGs and old timey acoustics. Fairly cheap at farm stores and some building centers. Super cheap on Ebay.

I think it's thick enough as is, but I would kind of like to braid one strap.

Nice Uncle. A fabric shop is going out of business here. Hope to get a bargain...

Nice!

I used to be able to braid rope/strap when I was young, when we were setting hoop nets on the river and the current was faster in some places we had to braid the straps so they would hold the weight of the nets when loaded with fish. Not sure if I can remember how to do it, I have some parachute cord at the cabin so I may give it a lash.

I thought about braiding this and the black one I have, but the single thickness is comfortable.

I always used a strap with the strum sticks. It helps a lot. I need I gotta have some...

Dave, I don't always use straps, but I think I play better when I do and the instrument is more stably in place.

I don't know, Gary.   I only had 200 feet of cord to start with!  True enough on all you said.  And actually pretty nice to include any kind of strap with a build.

You should have enough to last a year or two, UJ.  I like to have some kind of strap on my gits and ukes so I don't have to be sitting to play.  So, I am just using some cheap parachute cord-usually white.  If a buyer wants something better, he or she can make or buy a personalized strap.  I used to make straps from thrift store belts or strapping from a sewing store, etc., but now I just put the parachute cord on and let the final owner keep it or change it.  Keep in mind that new guitars at a music store come without any strap at all.
