In the 30 years since I got my first guitar, I have tried a bunch of different strings---I use Martins on my Martin, and D'Addario xl's on my Ovation Breadwinner, and with my CBG's I match the strings to the neck wood, and soundboard size/thickness, as well as the number of strings! stiffer necks and/or thicker lids get heavier strings! Different tunings also come into the mix, and I may re-string a new build 2 or 3 times before I get just the right sound!!!!
