The virtues of thrift is an article on this magazine cover..Very fitting considering this homemade mojo box was built with found objects. 3 strings, Finish nail frets(heads on) piezo transducer pickup. With 21+ volume control knob. Courtesy of Lynchburg Lemonade: )

No problem man..The sound holes were an after thought ,so yes I did them last. What little it did shred the edges was safely covered by the little lip on the sliding door pulls I used as sounds holes. I don't think it will be a problem for you. All in all I am pretty pleased with the outcome. It was a big hit at the "Mojo" art show..Especially being the only guitar:)
I'm anxious to see what you come up with..Be sure and holler at me after you post pics so I don't miss em.

Sorry, but one more question... I'm about to do the same and don't want to screw up....

Did you drill the sound holes after affixing the mag cover and applying a coat or two? If so, I assume there was enough of a seal to make a clean cut without shredding the artwork?

I want it all to match in finish..Do the whole box. I think it was a satin now that you mention it. I put the picture on the box last year sometime. Then just built the guitar last month, fpr an art show ... so I don't remember what I used exactly. It's a pretty simple way to dress up a not so attractive box. Plus it just fit I think, given the economy and why people built these in the first place.
Happy building: )

That's what I figured. Are you using a satin finish so it's not too shiny? Also, are you only coating the side with the graphic, or the whole box?

Thanks for the tips.

Yes ,Spray adhesive ,I used clear poly over the glued on cover. It needs more coats. .You really want it thick.

Nice Work David. Can you tell me how you put the magizine cover on the box? Did you apply a coat of varnish or laquer over the top?
