Watch your fingers on that saw. Watch your arm for that matter. I've not used Elm on instruments yet. I used it for the rafters in my log cabin many years ago. It was green when I built with it. Made a great roof. I used bacon grease to lubricate the nails.

And the green looks good!

Hey Dave, I'll remember that- I've always wanted a fiddle- maybe the best thing to do is to make one and then learn to play!
Think American Elm would be very good to use? I cut some up last September, beautiful stuff, been seasoning it.
Reminds me, I was thinking of making a little buzz saw with a cut-off saw blade for ripping logs...we had a big one on the farm that ran off the PTO on the tractor, it could cut railway ties like a hot knife through butter! Used to cut up all the wood for the Winter on it

Oh, and notice, I took your suggestion and added green to the colors. It added a nice contrast and perked her up. Thanks.

Thanks Monterey. I took her to our Monday music jam tonight and she did great. Tuned in G, (GDG) she's very easy to play. If you ever try a fiddle, 3 string is the ticket to fun.

She sure looks good, Dave. Really good antiquing and blending the old and new together, it's great!
