Simple tuners made using dowels. The screw pulls it tight to the headstock and stays in tune. I sprinkled salt in the cavity for more friction.

Comment by Keni Lee Burgess on October 14, 2011 at 12:46am: I like your design. It has a lot of eye appeal. Traditionally friction pegs have a taper. Pulling out slightly they turn, pushed in they lock. Friction pegs are also used with gut / nylon strings because they have lower string tension than steel strings. As you know, steel uses geared machines. I would encourage you to continue to experiment. Possibly your could develop a hybrid. Enjoy
