Here's a display rack designed for travel. Kept it simple. It'll hold a variety of lengths from 17" scale on up. Has about a 10 degree tilt back, a channel to keep them from slipping off, 2 shelves, and comes apart for travel. I could add some guitars hanging from the upper shelf but it gets a bit cluttered looking.

I kind of forgot about the old Ghias.  They were pretty neat.

Yep. thats my neglected but running 1970 Karmann Ghia. Someone should buy it from me.

I wish I had plans to send along with the rack but I drew a sketch and modified, modified, modified as I went along. Its pretty simple to figure out though. I could have gone 48" but wanted to keep the overall width to 36" for packing and in case I ever wanted to cover the back with fabric (36" seems to be a standard width and has more option than 48". That'd be my guess anyway. The shelves are in a track I cut on the table saw....yes, a router would be better if I'd've had that size bit. I forwarded the shelves a bit to allow for an even distribution of weight...I guessed but it came out very stable (though I could put weights on it. The height of each section is about 36" also. I left the top with that room in case I ever make a sign or want to add lights. I used hex head screws to bolt it all together with embedded 1/4-20 wood inserts...so I could take it apart over and over again. The side pieces are hinged and a bolt goes thru the center to give it more stability. I used a star nut (I think thats what its called) under so I could make it nice and snug in the middle....no wobble. Dowels and screws connects the parts that don't come apart and i covered the screw holes with wood plugs to neaten it up. Hope that helps if anyone wants to make one. Any modifications welcome.

I'm going to email this to my 78 year old dad. See if he thinks he could build this for me. He had a better workshop. All my builds happen on the deck and in the kitchen of my double wide trailer ;)

I do like a nice rack.  This sure qualifies.    What is that car?  Looks like a Carmen Gia.

Feels kinda wrong saying "nice rack" to a dude.
