Re-Discovered this item hiding away in one of my sheds, most people will recognize for what it actually is; a roll of "25mm x 1.2mm Pryda Strap Brace", but all I could see was "Free Output Jack Plates etc." Hundreds of 'em !!!!!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D

"Thanks Gary W aka Rev. Bluejeans", Love the Feather, and the idea of letting someone else cut them with a Plasma Cutter, the beauty of the strap is, the screw holes are already there, and the Jack or Switch hole just needs to be enlarged to accommodate, but at 1.2mm thick it does require a bit of effort just to cut to length with my Tin Snips.

Old flattened Corrugated Iron roofing sheets are another favourite of mine for Jack Plates etc; (a lot thinner and easier to cut :-)

AGP, what a great idea!   I have lots of pieces of steel sheet (which is used to line boxes of magnets to keep the flux inside during transport), and have fabricated a couple of jack plates using it.  I have met an artist who plasma cuts shapes by hand (feathers, wolves, hummingbirds, dragonflies, etc.) and I've gifted him with a few hundred pounds of 10"x10" and 12"x10" sheets!  In fact, I gave him more yesterday at a local art festival.  He's going to create some steel tailpieces for me with various designs, and I should have them at another art festival at the end of the month.   I'll be sure to post pictures!

Thanks for the interest guys, don't ya just love "Free Stuff".

Terry Brennan, I have in the past stripped back the galvanizing by soaking in a mixture of I part Hydrochloric Acid and 10 parts Water, a stronger solution does the job quicker but you must be careful !!, I personally haven't tried to buff to a shine, as after stripping off the Gal, I usually heat to red hot then quench with oil or WD40 to prevent rust, this gives me a Blued Relic Effect

Wow, that's cool!  It could be used for corners to. Do you know AGP, Is there a way to strip the galvenizing back to bear metal. I am attempting a metal body 3 string  build with pot top, and would like to use this thickness in bare metal for the headstock.I tried soaking pieces in vinegar, which is great for zinc bolts and nuts, but did not effect it [except make it darker.] Thank you.
