Yeah Harrison,

The dime is my version of the round plate you would see on a Strat or Tele neck heel that has a neck tilt feature. The set screw applies pressure against the metal (dime or metal disk).

not sure I understand how the dime comes into play is it inset in the butt of the neck so the set screw doesn't dig into the wood?

Haha, actually it does Gary.

Excellent, Ted!  Thanks for sharing!  (BTW, does the $2 include the dime???)

Here's a pic of the neck pocket showing the tee nut:

The neck pocket has a tee-nut installed, facing down toward bottom of body, where you see the hole between the neck screws. An allen set screw is inserted from that hole upwards toward the neck pocket. The heel of the neck has a metal plate (in this case, a Canadian dime), and the allen set screw is tightened against this plate. If tilt is needed to improve/adjust string action, the strings are loosened a bit, and the neck screws are too...more so on the lower screws. Then the set screw is turned a 1/4 turn, neck screws re-tightened, strings tuned to pitch, then check string action. If more adjustment needed, repeat until it's all good.

It's really no different than on a Stratocaster neck with the Fender neck tilt gizmo they use on some of their guitars. This setup cost me about $2.
