While fixing a mandolin, i devised this simple rig to press down on the neck joint while gluing up. The bottom of the heal joint had a gap and needed glue. It worked great. The mandolin plays great.

Thanks Boxy. I've used this method a few times. It works.

I have a mandolin which needs the same treatment, and this has inspired me to go do it! Good clear picture, thank you for posting it up.

Ya that sticky residue gets on your hand and silver's just not my color.

Yeah, Dave, the glue approach probably trumps the duct tape approach in these situations...  ;-)

Thanks fellows, sometimes things work out I've used this method now 3 times and it worked each time. In each case i couldn't get the neck completely off the body, but the bottom of the heal is loose and you can get glue into the joint with a knife. I just crank down on the clamp enough to get good glue squeeze out.
