i see what you mean Patrick. I DID lower the strings and it does seem to create too much contact with the body when i use a pick but it's fine with my thumb. How many mm should the strings float over the body? over the fingerboard?

Hi Jonathan,
i believe the best way to go is like i said,
neck flush with the lid box and then the fingerboard over the lid so that give you picking space and easy to adjust the high of the string !!!
your neck is flush with the box but including the fingerboard so that is why you have high string problem i believe, you could shim the neck to make it flush with the box so you have the fingerboard over the lid !!!
or you could mess like i did and make the neck at an angle and result with and nice picking space and low action on the fingerboard !!!!
next one i do will have the neck flush with the box and then the fingerboard just over the lid so i dont have to mess around much for low action and space picking :D
nice build by the way love the heel !!!

yeah the neck (well fingerboard) is flush with the box. i cut the nut in half and made (ok, used the cutoff of the neck) a low saddle. now its real low, almost too low but i'll just rework it in time.

Hi,
i'm still at my first CBG aswell and learning alot reading but one thing i can tell you of thinking is neck angle !!!
but looking at your build i can also said that you would not have this problem if you had
the neck flush with the lid and then adding your fretboard, that way you would still have good picking playing space at the bridge but would not ended with high sting problem,
as you would be able to adjust the nuts and bridge,
but one other thing is to be consider i think if you dont mind not having that much space for picking,
you could use a smaller bridge and adjust the nut for making it lower action playing or make the neck at about 1 deggree angle like i'm trying to do,
but this is just advise from a rookie :D
and never forget that there is no rule for making a CBG but if you want it like i do with real low action then you have to consider ether of the 3 option i mention !!!
Patrick
