I built a very similar copy of a headless travel guitar last year. The roller bearings were the biggest challenge for me. After many attempts to use PVC pipe, stainless steel bar, etc I finally found some "conveyor bearings" listed on ebay that worked perfect! BTW, the one I designed has a wooden resonator that provides a little volume when playing unplugged. Here is a link to some pics if you are interested:

Hi Laranor,

Thanks for the offer. I have no immediate plan to build one (solid bodies electric guitars is not where I'm at right now in my "luthier career" LOL). However, your headless design might somehow be adaptable to an acoustic instrument, so I'm interested in that aspect of your design. Other folks on CBN maybe be interested in a headless solid body electric guitar design, so posting it on CBN seems to be a good idea. So, if you have the plans in digital format, you could upload them to CBN, maybe on your personal page, or perhaps as a part of this discussion. Perhaps a hi-res photo(s) of the plans if you drew them out on paper.

I can get the general idea of your design by viewing the photos you have posted, but had some question on the pulley system you used. I guess I'll have to checkout the shower department at B&Q and other hardware stores for pulley ideas if I want to implement as nice of a headless guitar design as you have built. Thanks for posting your photos. You seem to build unusual but well crafted instruments. Keep up the good work.

The pulleys are adapted from bearings doors shower enclosures is what has given me more work but can be made from teflon

Nice detail photo. What are you using to build the 6-part "pulley" around which you route your strings when they reach the bottom end of your guitar body? Did you build the pulley from scratch or did you adapt something?
