Cigar box dulcimer

This is my first cigar box dulcimer. I like it. That pretty neck and fret board wood is poplar, always a popular choice. It plays and sounds pretty good. Tuned GDG using the GBE strings from a guitar. Short scale 23.25 inches.

I also have four niiiice long cohiba boxes I have accumulated and been saving for special projects. Wanted to build a dulcimer since I started this kind of stuff. Amp building isn't working too well for me right now and I need a break from it...Hmmmm... That lap steel I have been promising myself next or the dulcimer... "Floundering in the sea of intellectual uncertainty..."

I just lucked out and found that dark piece of poplar and two nice boxes. I seldom scarf joint the head stock, but do one now and then to show myself I can do it. I think that improved the look too.

Find two good boxes and make one, Ray. Or make your own box.
