Anyone know how to covert a 1939-40 working valve radio so i can plug into the amp circuit with a cigar box guitar??
would make a great practice amp lovely deep tone...
it all works and has the original light plug socket too!!
or should I ebay it? Any ideas what this would be worth?
Practice amp or sell it ???????

I think I will need assistance on this one! .........yes it works fine though as a radio

looks in v.good shape... is there a break between radio and amp.. I was told the volume pot Is the place to tap in? know anyone in the UK who does this kind a thing?

yes it can be a awesome amp...but it first must work flawlesslly as a radio, no hum and or shorts or dangerous tubes or caps that can catch fire....then you can add a three prong chord so you dont shock yourself....it might not be good if its your first time, but check out valvechild.com

this is a awesome radio, but VERY risky!!!!  try a battery powered amp so you dont cause damage to  your house cirutc breaker!

Hey!  I'm jealous....

Talk to Beetlejuice--he's done some transistor-type conversions.

I *think* (but then I know just enough about electronics to get myself killed) that whoever told you to pick it up at the volume pot is right.  I know with the lower voltage radios you can wire a regular plug to ground and then touch the hot line to the volume pot terminals until you get sound.  Don't rightly know if that'd be safe in this case....

Hi

yes a little bit.. someone said I need to pick it up at the volume pot... but its high voltage stuff in here so a little hesitant... used to have two batteries one for warming the tubes and one to run them...its from Harrods you know!

the Queen order one of these!... might even once of been her's... but I doubt it.

Could you list the tubes in the amp? Do you have any electronic knowledge?

Please learn how to convert it into an amp and then teach me how to do it.
