 Brian, I had thought of that, but I was using wood glue and I wasn't sure if it would stain the material, so I took a chance. It's a cabinet, a primitive build, primitive tools, made from found wood, a recycled speaker, the only thing I bought was the screws and glue to hold it together. It'll probably never leave the house and will never gig, so I'm not too particular on how it looks. Now if it sounds like ass, I'll have to do something else. (grin)

Ray, the industry standard, is to spray the speaker baffle with adhesive before you apply the grill material. This will keep the grill from sagging? Actually, Andries, that’s a very common way to mount speakers. Next time you pop open a boombox, you’ll see, it cuts down on vibrations?

 Forgot your other question, yes, this ugly amp is deliberately made from "found" items and primitive-style.

One word Andries, "incompetence"

 Made the mistake of putting a lot of work into particle board. Thought that was what cabinets were made of. The board I had cut the hole in had threatened to fragment. Was afraid the screws would finish it off.

its a bit of a strange way to mount the speaker, but if its a primitif tool deal i see where you are going,if its to releave pressure in the box,i see to , but otherwise why? the saggy grill Ray ?
