Yup, I think I need some bracing under the plywood top. Maybe X bracing? I’ll use guitar spruce braces. My string attachment will be centered on the box top so the braces will need to be off center. Thanks for the tips fellas.

I did the soundboard that way on my bass viola da gamba. Worked great. I did use a capital "I" shaped brace which was what one old set of plans showed. The column of the "I" brace wasn't centered. It was on the other side compared to the soundpost.
