I usually get mine from a drum or banjo supply place. The skin is dried but I don' think it's tanned. Correct, the skin is quite flexible and stretchy when it's been soaked for about 20 min. Then tightens up a lot when dry. I let mine sit and dry for 24 hrs before doing anything with them. Pretty easy to find the skin on ebay "natural skin banjo head"

Is this any type of natural skin Jim ,or leather fresch from the animal or a pig blatter like for tamborine? The principel ;make it wet, it widens. Let it dry; it srinks and the tension builds up kind of thing?

Yeah Andries, impossible to staple into a coconut shell. Try pre drilling holes and using a screw and washer. If you used a natural skin you could use ties like on African drums but I don't think that would work with the plastic.

Found out that the CoCoNut shell is pretty hard stuff for this type of build, and that a Salad Bowl and a Billard Q surves better for the Job at least the staples stay stuck when you put on the

PET 1. Any one who has better ideers about putting it on the COCONUT whit out staples PLEASE tell Me !
