Heinz Beanz Can Resonator, Recycled Piano Neck, Box Sides, Top & Tuners, Threaded Rod Bridge & Metal Tailpiece Free!, Recycled Cedar Blinds Box Bottom $.026, Strings $1.56, Screws & Glue $1.24, Piezo Disc Pup $0.58, Output Jack $.058, Total Cost = $4.22.
Also treated the metal parts on this one with Fire and Water for effect, also had thoughts of fire treating the timber, but again have left it in its natural state (no stain or wax etc.) to be like it's owner, and again age disgracefully. This one sounds nice acoustically, both un-amped and amped on clean channel.

Thanks UJ, Dave & Farmer Ted, my initial thought was that it might be poplar. I have used poplar from a local a hardware store in quite a few previous builds, which I'm pretty sure is imported from the US, it seems to have a different texture and smell, to the Piano Timber, maybe this is just the difference between English Poplar and American Poplar. ????
Very nice looking AGP. The greenish wood might be poplar. Often used in many types of musical instruments.
The one on the right looks like poplar. Interesting. You are getting a lot of good out of that old piano.
Thanks "Uncle John", I've done a few of the angled headstocks before and they all seem to be strong enough, with no problems, The timber used is from the casing of a recycled English made piano, I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but I think it is some type of hardwood, albeit a soft one, the colour has a whitish/greenish tinge to it, and has a strange sweet smell when cutting or sanding, it also has a thin veneer of darker timber, which I "think!" is Maple, "hopefully someone out there can tell me type of timbers they are" ?? (the larger piece is part of the Piano Lid and is typical of what I have used so far)
AGP#...great example of what can be done with just a few dollars and clever re-use of items we all can find around us. This one looks great, and has a nice arse...hehe
AGP, I love the front of this one. It needs no finish. That angled headstock is pretty and artistic. Is it strong?
