Yes i can hear the difference. It hummed loud without the ground to the strings. It got better with the ground, but not fixed. The hum is strongest on low volume (weird) and goes down as the volume is turned up. At full volume there's little if any hum. When my fingers are on the strings the hum is gone. So when playing there is no hum. The pickup came with instructions and mentioned possible hum and to ground the strings to the jack ground.

I ground my strings whenever I use a magnetic pickup to eliminate the hum when you touch the strings, but haven't found it necessary with piezo p'ups.  Can you hear any difference, grounded vs not?

I'll add that the box is mahogany top and back, sides are walnut, tail block and shoulder block are cherry. The neck is tulip poplar with a walnut fingerboard made by Mike Orr. He does a nice fingerboard. I've used his fingerboards on several of my boxes. That way i don't fret about them..... I add a walnut or cherry binding to make them fit my poplar neck. This box is very bright acoustic and LOUD with the pickup. I made the Bocote bridge.
