Better Trees - the amp part won't be much trouble, you can buy amps at Gitty that are no bigger than a postage stamp stuck on the back of a volume pot. The trouble is going to be, any speaker you can hear from 5 feet away will be too big for a "watch", and it will also need some kind of enclosure to keep the sound off the back of the speaker from canceling out the sound off the front. Then you'll have to have a 9v battery.
You can buy a variety of different amps that clip on your belt. I think that's about as good as you're going to find.

I figure this is the right place to ask.  I am working on a steam punk build, and I would like a mini amp that I can wear like a watch on my slide hand. I am not particularly good at electronics, so I decided I would try and commission one instead of making it.  Anyone interested send me a message.

Scott,

I hooked up my 8ohm fender amp speaker, and still nothing coming through.

no, but used stereo speakers are easy n cheap...$2-3 bucks each at a local thrift shop. Best size is 2-10 watt 8 ohm.

ok David L gave me a schematic similar to this one. I just hooked everything up on my breadboard to bench test. nothing works! errrr!!!  I'm using a 4ohm speaker

also I'm using a mono input jack, does that make a difference , mono or stereo?

also I'm plugging a regular electric guitar six string with humbucker pickups.

will that make any difference ? also when i hook the battery up i hear static coming through speaker momentarly , but when I plug in my guitar to input jack , nothing!!!  Errrrrrr!!!!

scott thanks ! will a 4ohm speaker work with this application?

Here is a simple LM386 circuit. Best to omit the volume pot, unless you really want to. The 10uF capacitor between pin 1 & 8 is there to increase gain. You can wire a 10k pot between pin 1 and the + lead of the capacitor, with the cap's - lead going to pin 8 for a variable gain control. Suggested value for the 10uF & 220 uF caps should be at least 16volt, but 25volt has a fuller sound.
