I just want to use one at a time. Looking at my previous comment, I wasn't that clear.

Yeah, I just wanted to have the option to use the amp for both an MP3 player and a guitar. I thought about using an adapter, but I wanted to have everything permanently mounted in the amp. One less thing to keep track of. Thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated.

Mickey, there aren't any pitfalls when including a 3.5mm jack. I assume you want to have the option of using the amp either as a guitar amp, or  as an MP3 player amp? Just wire the 3.5mm jack to the same contacts as the 1/4" jack.

But you can also save that step and simply get a 1/4" male to 3.5mm female mono jack connector.

Howdy everyone.  I am pretty new to building amps, and I am looking for some advice for what is probably a pretty simple task. I have a 2.5w amp board from Gitty, and I would like the amp to have both a 1.4" jack and a 3.5mm jack.  Any suggestions for how I should wire this?  Any pitfalls with this setup?  Thanks in advance!

A wood cabinet will soak in some sound waves, but a metal cab will reflect it all back and that can be a problem. It also adds to the unique sound. Might try a soft liner across the back side of the can to try out.

It has a good raw sound to it Dr X. A little too much noise though. Did you use any shielding in the can? Were you playing a guitar with a single coil pickup?

I found this Admiral tube radio at the New Glasgow Flea Market. The first intention was to convert it into a tube guitar amplifier. After much research, this idea was not a good one. So instead, I removed the tubes and old circuit and installed one of my 1/2 watt guitar amp circuits. The original field coil speaker had a torn cone. So it was replaced with a modern one, added an LED light just above the dial face so when the amp is turned on, the dial lights up.
Had the old radio been something of value, I would have restored the insides.
Now it is a nice practice amplifier, which can also be used with an MP3.

It is for sale. PM if interested.
