Most likely the bridge on any stringed instrument that uses one needs to be adjusted for intonation.
Action just makes it a little more or less slanted.
On most of my dulciboxes the is some slant. I intonate the middle string first , then go from there. Occasionally it's close enuff I can leave it straight.

On my first builds I would use the strings as 2 sets .... top 3 as one set, bottom 3 as the other. Banjo-y sounding with the smallest and baritonish with the big-uns.

Bridge question.... If you build with a reasonably fast action (strings close over frets), that you can set bridge "square" with no problem. High actions stretch treble strings more than "bass" strings when fretted, to the slant serves for compensation....

String question.... try the smallest three strings (1-2-3) for a nice lutesh sound.

I have a Bridge question. On a dulcimer CBG will the bridge need to be slanted at all for the tone to be correct? Or should the bridge just remain straight?

Here's a String question: What size strings should be used on a 3 string dulcimer CBG?

I'm finishing up my grandaugher's dulcimer CBG, and hope to have it done by the end of next week.

Does the strumstick have the same fret spacing as the dulcimer? And are they 3, 4 or either stringed?

the dulci-blues box that I'm playing in 20" scale using the 6-5-4-4 from a set of 10's.... It is a very managable scale length and still has a nice low voice....
