My son is having problems with the strings slipping on the saddle of a baritone uke. The saddle is a bolt. From my research here, it seems like the saddle break angle is not steep enough and I've seen a "trapeze" bridge mentioned. Anyone know what that is and what it looks like?
Easy answer for you Wayne. Put on string down each side of the neck and the third one goes in the middle. I generally try for somewhere between 9/16" and 5/8" spacing, but whatever you are comfortable is fine. Obviously, if you are using a fretted neck the strings need to be over the frets.
I.m a newbie so I don't have a comment. But I have a question on string spacing on 3 string. The neck I am using is not a full 1.5 but 3 tenth under. Fretting is done. Time to string but before I bring all the hard work to destruction a little advise is required. I have not found much about this subject anywhere. But then as my ex will tell you I never read instructions. Thanks in Advance
Ellwood Bear is correct.
Thank you all for chiming in. Would like to find the cure for the stereo jack as I have several in stock. (first order - didn't know any better). Live and learn.
Had the same problem with a CBG , changed out the stereo jack and replaced with a mono and all worked great..
I have completed two 3 string CBGs w/ piezo - volume and !/4" jacks. Both work fine on my Fender Princeton amp. Just finished building a 9v CB Gitty cigar box amp. and only one CBG works with it, the other produces only a very faint amount of volume. Any ideas of what could be causing this? The only difference in the wiring of the two is that the one that doesn't produce any volume has a stereo jack the other a mono. (again, both cbg's work with my Fender/Peavey/Roland amps). Halp?
