Love the neck and box you've built! Before you cut the holes in the plate, make sure the neck doesn't block them. Holes don't need to be big, but do need to be relatively unobstructed. That may cause you to go off center. Might want to play with a junker plate first before you alter that one. I'd put the pickup on and try it without holes first.

Some guitars actually have sound holes in the side for the player. so, yes, you can have a sound hole in various places.

Is it necessary to place the sound holes on the resonating surface? why not on the side of the sound box?

Don't sweat it, I got it. I do want to see the final pics.

That should be " thanks for the help" I think I need more coffee.

Thanks Paul, I will put a hole in the "O" in coin, that will preserve the look of the plate and hopefully get the sound out. (I don't want wall art. I'll post some pics when I finish.

Once again for the help.

If you want to have good volume unplugged, then yes to soundholes. You could 1 hole in the O next to the C or 2 1/2" to 3/4" holes in the corners near the neck.

Piezo placement depends on your tastes. Some prefer them in the box, back side of the plate on the low/bass side of the strings in the middle area, some under the bridge and some behind the bridge. I recommend trying several places til you find a place you like.

A lot of piezo's use a 500k volume, I changed mine to a 1 meg because the sound was too harsh/shrill. Placing the piezo on the plate may indeed be shrill or you might like it. Good luck.

This is my first license plate build. I have two questions. First, the plate works as the resonator, so do I need sound holes and can you put in an acoustic pezio pickup in it.  If you do, where do you put them?  Thanks

Those are trapeze tail pieces. They afix to the end of the guitar and hold the string ends. They are used in conjunction with a floating bridge. Using the trapeze tail piece,if it has a fixd low angle, brings the string ends closer to the bridge, resulting in the strings making a higher break angle over the bridge. The other way of getting amhigher break angle is to put a back angle on the neck when building. This will, let you use a higher bridge for the same string action.

Thanks for the pictures. How will this hardware make the break angle steeper?
