Jeff I just came home from Home Depot. Went to get some weed/grass killer and low and behold I walked through the "Picture Hanger Dept" and look what I found. A CBG tailpiece !      Ha

I was in Home Depot yesterday and saw some type of metal chain clip thing and though"that might make a nice bridge piece... so I get that "CBG Vision" thing

Update on my resonator build. Emailed Old Lowe-agrees, leave it open. Got the cone and noted it 7.25 in. across- I thought it was gonna be 6. My CB is 7.75 in across, so this made for a really tight fit- also the box I got is really choice and I hate to cut out such a large part of the character----So-----I decided to did thru my workshop and found a really nice 1/2" slab of bald cypress(14X36"). I planed it down to 1/4" and made my own box(10X15"). I've been working mainly on my neck now(red oak from my place with eucalyptus fretboard)- so far so good.

I haven't even finished my first CBG yet, Bill, and I find myself doing that very same thing....I've got a sketchpad that I keep of all the CBG designs I want to make, and I'm constantly seeing items in a new 'guitar-centric' light!

CBG%20parts.jpgHow many of you have developed "Cigar Box Vision" ?   You know the symptoms. You walk down the aisles of Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes etc. and see that part that has nothing to do with CBG's but would make a great bridge, nut, string anchor or other part.  When the clerk asks you about the plumbing project you are buying pieces for you don't know what to say.

I found Brass Threaded Inserts, Square brass tubing, Round brass tubing at Harbor Freight and Lowes,  Electric terminals from an old military radio.

There is no cure, other than build another.....

Like many of you I have been caught up in the CBG building frenzy. It does seem to be addicting. Just wanted to mention a very good source of information for newbies like me and that is Mordacai's, GittyMan Manual. (84 pages)

It covers most all aspects of the build and helped me especially when using different types of lids. In addition he sends out a weekly email with hints, tips and links to interesting sites.

Thanks for that tip, Sam.  I cut a small piece today and rather liked the smell.  I'll put a mask on next time.
