Hey Bill, I am still a newbie with only a handful of builds under my belt, but initially I thought, "Why not cut out a small channel in the through-the-body part of the neck, right below where the bridge goes to slide the bar into place?".

My idea being to get that piezo in the sweet spot under the bridge area.  Those bars are fairly thin and you wouldn't need to make too deep or wide of a notch that would weaken the neck.  

In my mind it's either that or making a saddle bridge and notch out a bit below it to slide the bar.  Then simple drill a hole into the plate, under the bridge, for the wiring to go.

I haven't build a license plate guitar yet, but bought a plate a while back with plans to do so.  Best of luck!

Starting a License Plate CBG.  Would like to use a Bar Piezo.  Where/how would you place it ?

I was fascinated by the banjo bridge so did this out of bone. Will put the strings about 1/2 in high.   Not sure what to put it on.  I have a Dogbowl resonator, a License plate resonator and just a regular CBG in the future.

Regarding this: http://banjobridge.com/stu.htm... What was the circuit board used for?  Is that what he made the bridge out of? Love the design and may make my own version of it (changing the pattern more to what one of my CBGs might call for).  Thanks everyone for all the great info!

I had a Danelectro Hodad DH-1 amp, and really didn't want to tear it all apart to put in a cigar box. They have a neat shape and dual mini-speakers. I recently found a hexagon shaped La Gloria Cubana Generoso box and it looked promising. To my delight it was a perfect fit. Slide top back to plug in cable and make adjustments.

On a standard guitar, the bridge slant is 1/8" per inch. The high strings are set up shorter and the bass strings are set up to be longer from the nut to the bridge.

To get proper intonation you will probably need to adjust the bridge closer to 90 degrees Dave. If anything I have found with my builds that the string length will be a little longer than scale on the heavy strings and a little shorter on the high notes. I'm sure there is a formula out there for how to figure it out, but if you have a movable bridge and a tuner you can get it hit or miss.
