Wallace, I think you are taking about fininshing washers, a neat little pressed washer that lets the wood screw set down in it without countersinking it

I saw a metal insert for flat headed screws on CBN. I can't find it again.
Do you make them or can you buy them? What are they called?

Howlin' Dick, by "plastic pegs" do you mean the bridge pins (rather than the tuners)? If so, a number of things could be the problem. the holes are too large, the pins are excessively worn, you don't have enough for the strings to hold on to (on a reg. 6-string this is a "bridge plate." the pins don't really hold the ball-end of the string, they just snug it up to the bridge plate.)

Here is the back of the box. Any suggestions for determining the age of the box? I like that it is a local Wisconsin cigar maker. Fond du lac is near Milwaukee. Still haven't found anything on the history of the box. 10 cents a cigar but who knows the quality of a Wisconsin cigar.

Supreme Court Box. I found this old box at a nearby juke store that has one of everything. I've looked online for this brand of cigar to try to determine the age of the box. So far no luck. :(

Dick, it sounds like you may have gotten nylon string tuning pegs. i did that when i first started making cbg's and unfortunately they just don't work with metal strings. too much tension. save them for when you build something with nylon strings.
