It arrived in this cute little box.  Nice presentation Klangbox! (in case you are a smoker and don't speak German, Google translates the box thusly, "Smoking adds them and the people around them considerable damage to"

It looks great so far. Perfect fit on the box and nice fholes. I've made 4 with his cones and so far find a disk of wood (cut with circle cutter on dremel) works well, using a bone nut black filed to a rather sharp edge along the top for the bridge itself. I have also found that they sound better with more downward pressure to really drive the cone. I angle my necks back a few degrees and use about 3/4" tall biscuit. I've also just used a block of ebony under the bone. In each case I have let string pressure hold the bone nut on the wood, and on the last two I didn't even screw the wood to the cone.

Per Lowe's suggestion I attach the piezo to the back center of the cone - sounds fantastic. I've tried screwing through the piezo sandwiched between some rubber washers and just glueing it w/ glue gun - each has worked well.

You might try finishing washers under the screws, they'll make the flat heads fit smoothly. I've used brass #10 roundhead machine screws with washers and nuts on the back. In one case I had to inject glue under the rim to stop vibrations, but I now suspect it was actually just a loose nut.

Hope something in the above is helpful. Please keep us posted on this build :)

Here is the reso that I am working on.  The come is from old lowe.  Can y'all pass on any advice for the biscuit and staining the wood.  i'd like it to look old and antiquey.  Perhaps make lots of money on Antiques Road Show!

Since it will take a while for it to air dry I'd block it out large to allow for warpage and checking. Air dry takes about a year per inch of thickness. You might consider having it kiln dried if you don't have storage space or patience to wait!

Thanks Wiley,  Would you go for 4 string necks? I've never made a 6 string or banjo neck.

If I had that choice and it's huge, I think I'd have about half cut for necks and half cut thin for sides and backs.

So my father gave me a giant log of cherry tree trunk that the had to cut down from their back yard.  Part of the present was to get it milled.  My father wants to know what size(s) it should be milled.  Should I go for fret boards?  Necks?  I've been thinking of a 6 string sized neck and a banjo neck.  Can't decide.  Any suggestions?
