Watching the blizzard and working on a new headstock.  Coming up with a name is almost as fun as coming up with band names.

"The Lightin' Resophonic Twenty-Eleven"?

Beautiful work! Are the boxes old? What is the bridge made out I'd?

And you would want to why????

Another photo. This is the second 3-stringer guitar I made and I've just completed a single string. Am working on a two stringer using a boat paddle for the neck. Would like to make a six stringer in the near future. Just one more thing: How do I stop this crazy addiction.

Just wanna say thanks to Ivan Sucharski for making his instructions available on how to build a cbg

If you want to tune low open d, get a medium to heavy set of electrics 11-12's and use the 4-5-6 strings.  If you want to tune high open d, use the 1-2-3 strings from the same set.  (you can squeeze two CBGs out of one set. the heavy strings will sound guitarish, the lighter strings will sound strummer/dulcimer-ish)

A lot of folks seem to like open G as a tuning when singing with the CBG.  In that case, I like to use the 4-5-6 strings from a set of electric 9's.  You can get a really bright sound.  This works well for fretboard work.

just some thought,

the best,

Wichita Sam

ps: post your stuff when you're done.  We want to know how it goes.

For my first cbg i bought a bronze set .11 and used the A and D strings and bought one plain .17 G string. Tuned the A down to G. Thus GDG.

I have just completed my first build, its a 3 string fret-less and at the moment acoustic.I have no musical knowledge or ability so I need to know what people recommend what strings I should fit on it for ease of learning to play this instrument. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Gonna be cool!  Haven't done any of the wiring but here is a sneak peak of how the resophonic will look with the pickup.  Cone by Old Lowe.  Pick up by Klangbox.
