Those are really cool, love the bass. You know you don't have to live with a Swiss Cheese head. Plug the holes and throw a veneer over it, IMMHO

HI, I'm new in this group. I built a cigar box bass with pahoehoe strings just for fun a couple of months ago and then I had to change a lot of things. Now it's been finished. New tuners from large sound didn'T fit into the old holes, so I had to drill new ones which made my bass' headstock look like Swiss Emmental cheese. Hope you'll like it. It's to the left of the amp. Thanks Phil, I just wish I had time to learn how to do some audio, UTube or whatever. Sure would help in selling this stuff if I could demo the sound. Think I'll go to Guitar Center Sat. AM. They have free recording classes.

I just finished a Cigar Box Jazz Bass for a customer, but I may keep it. This thing plays & sounds great! First one with the Ibenez GIO replacement necks (30"), JB pickups & wiring, light flatwounds, ect.

I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel.....I think that's sometimes overplayed.  I'm looking for a halfway decent sound acoustically and leave room to amp up. The pictures don't do the box justice, it's a pretty cool chest. I hope to keep the rusty finish intact. The box itself has top and bottom thats not too thin or too thick. This will be a three stringer that I will experiment with string options. Mostly I would rather put more time in it than money. Keep it simple with a little style. As I get deeper here I'll update as I go with photos on my page. I keep a photo record of all my builds but I only post a few of them.

I'm glad that you've done your research and planning. Will you be augmenting the sound with electrical pickups etc?
