Up to you as long as you have room for everything & get your 34".  My 30" has a 5 fret overlap. Never play there anyway. Good luck with it.

I am building a 34" Bass does it matter how many frets overlap onto the body or does the amount of frets just depend on where your bridge is.

My Frankenbox bass build started off as a fretless neck - I just couldn't get to grips with it at all and  ended up last weekend putting frets on!
