It's getting the vibrations through the plastic to the outer edge of the disc only without any problems. I've heard of people putting a piezo on a bed of hot glue and having problems due to trapped air, but this works. Scratching head with ? over my head on this one.

That's wild Paul, I've never heard of that nor would I have thought it possible to leave the piezo in the plastic.

I used a piezo buzzer from Radio Shack that came in a plastic housing in my License Plate Guitar build. I left the piezo in the plastic container and glued it to the plate. The piezo isn't bottomed out in the container, it sits on a lip and gets the vibrations through the plastic container. This cut out almost all handling noise that you get from placing the piezo directly to the bridge or sound board. It also seems to help with the harshness/shrill tone that you can have with piezo's.

Hello, new to the group.

I was wondering about wiring 2 piezo's to a blend pot to change from low tone to high tone(when piezo placed in certain areas to achieve these results) or mix the 2 to your own personal tastes.

Has anyone done this?

All magnets will give a different result, you just have to try them out.

Would a Rear Earth Bar Magnet still work if it was slightly wider than the coils used. I have a coil from a wall. I got from a second hand shop for a buck. I was wondering if the magnet would be any more effective if it was wider than the coils or do I have to use the button type magnets?

Hi Steve,

I'm not 100% sure but try this.  On the input side, solder the positive lug of the jack to the ceramic of the piezo.  Solder the brass outer ring to the positive lug of the output jack. Solder the negative lugs of both jacks together.  Hope this helps.
