Hey guys, I'm currently investigating parts for my first CBG, and I found this picture on John McNair's website:

The bridge looks pretty cool, anyone know what bits I need to make one? I dont really want to use a bolt or anything.

Cheers

yep thats a Reddog guitar and the bridge parts (saddles ) are from a regular six string Bridge - you could also use the standard L shape bracket that comes with the bridge and cut it down the middle to suit - so you could maybe get two three string bridges from one six string Bridge - looks like reddog has used individual L Brackets - you could use some L -Section steel , Brass , Satainless steel or bend your own flat plate into a L Profile
hope that helps
juju :)
Or you could always ask John McNair Reddog to make you one !
juju.
Those are individual saddles, fairly pricey. Each saddle is screwed down. I had the site in favorites at one time but no longer. Best ask John who his supplier is.

If you can't find them or they're too pricey, you might use individual Strat saddles (http://elderly.com/accessories/items/BP023.htm) and fashion your own trays.
you could use these and fashion your own bracket - how cheap are these for six !

This seller on Ebay is one of my favorites for parts. They are based out of Ontario CA but ship to the US. Takes about 10 days but the best part is that if you order multiple items they only charge the highest shipping charge for one single item (usually around $5.00 CA Postage). I order bridges, bone nut blanks, pots, control & jack plates, string tee's and tons of other items. I have placed several large orders with no issues what so ever.

They do look cool, but like most parts for 3 string guitars and CBG's you fabricate them yourself from this and that. I have a six string bridge that I have been saving for just that purpose. You can also try your local music store and see if they have a used parts bin they will let you dig thru.
I've been wondering how he does that since the first time I saw a CBG on his video "Whats a 3 string Cigar Box Guitar" ..As far as I can figure its, string saddles anchored to L brackets like mentioned above? How would you bolt that on the underside of the box though? Just a slab of wood the thickness of the box on the interior, or could you glue a piece to the underside of the lid itself to fasten them to so you could open it? Anybody tried it?

Awesome link Don thanks ;)

For anyone who's interested I just found theses, available in Gold, Black and Chrome:

http://cgi.ebay.com/BASS-BRIDGE-GOLD-INDIVIDUAL-STRING-SADDLE-POLE-...

I was looking at the cheap 4 string bass bridge, but it's 80mm wide, might be a little wide for a 4 string CBG, the 4 string moongazer bridge is 50mm wide, anyway this is a cheaper option.

Cheers
