Hi all, here is a look at my latest project in the jig building department, and as the title suggests you may never need one......... but you never know.

I have built one before, but that worked using my belt sander, and there are plenty of those to see on utube. I could not find where anybody had built one like this one that works in conjunction with an overhead pin router. So I had to work from scratch.

It is for use with full size 6/12 string guitar fingerboards

I think the photos are self explanatory along with the short captions. The fingerboard would be 1/4' thick and not yet shaped but already slotted for frets. Its held to the fretboard carrier by double sided tape. The radius on this F/B carrier is 12", but it can be swapped for other radii as needed.

I do not mind using my plane and sandpaper, but having done a few ebony boards recently the dust created is very messy, this way I can use my dust extractor. So no dust gets on me or the bench.

Basically the jig has to perform two actions at the same time, that is moving right and left whilst rocking back and forth.

I have a bit of fine tuning to do but it seems to work fine.

Very good. Ingenious use of drawer slides on this jig.

Now you need a jig setup for the back side of the neck. If you haven't already done that. Haha

If you weren't in Australia, I'd have you make some of those jigs for me. Shipping would be outrageous.
