Howdy,
My home built amp has been fun but....looking to get a 'store bought' amp to plug my cigar boxes into. I'm pretty sold on the Micro Cube and I keep reading here on 'the Nation', folks urging others to get themselves one for under a 100 bucks.
Okay, I'm game. But I can't seem to find one new anywhere for under about 130 bucks. Anybody out there know of any sales any where on the aforementioned item?

There are other amp makers out there, i bought a Line 6 micro spider used/as new still in the box for 50 GBP, it is 6 watts, more powerful than the Roland and has a number of reverb, chorus, tremelo effects and distortion/clean/acoustic drives, record/line out and runs off batteries or mains. There are mike and CD inputs and sounds great on CBG's - we don't want those guitars sounding too polished, do we? . Mike Snowden uses one on some of his videos...

Overstock.com has them for $109 with $2.95 shipping. I've not seen them on sale lately so this might be an option?

I love my Vox Pathfinder 15R. 15 watts, tremolo, spring reverb, gain boost for crunch, headphone jack, line output jack, external speaker jack, footswitch jack. sounds good at low volume, rattles the windows and bugs the neighbors, too, all for $119. sounds great with all my cbgs, my 6 string acoustic, and my telecaster. I think it's the best damn deal out there for this much money.
Even though it's solid state it has a nice warm tube-y sound. beware those line 6 and other digital modeling jobs. this will give you that nice clean bluesy tone, and the gain will crunchify it you roll that way. whatever you do, try before you buy, if you can. take your cbg or whatever to the store and plug it in to a bunch of amps, even high end models for comparison sake. I've read that the roland is a nice little amp, too, but try the vox out if you can.
You must have a newer version than mine. I don't have the line out or headphone jack. I agree though, great amp for the money. My friend has the micro cube and it sounds good too. The Cube is a bit more portable.

Add one more 'Love my microcube' to the list. Belinda (Bemuzic) recommended one to me and I have much enjoyed it.
I also enjoy my home made amp from a guitar fuel kit teamed with a Wes Carl boost.
Not battery operated, but excellent are the new Fender Mustangs for $99.00.
Thanks folks, enjoying all the reviews and suggestions. Best deal on a new micro-cube seems to be the suggestion on Overstock.com. I've been toying with building another mini-amp just for s--ts and grins, leaning towards the usual suspects, Noisy Cricket, Ruby and I kind of like Little Gem II with the input buffer like the Ruby but uses two 386 chips bridged. Probably wouldn't consider it except already have a 8", 4 ohm, guitar driver I'd like to experiment with and an excellent small crate for an enclosure.
As to the combo/practice amps I like I've found a cheap price on a used Line 6 Micro spider also but still leaning towards the Roland Micro. I like the built in effects and the size and since it's just for living room/back porch use it will be plenty loud enough. I've been using the Lithium AA batteries in a couple other things around the 'Casa' and find that they are definitely worth the extra $ since their longevity so far has greatly exceeded the Energizer/Duracell batts I've used previously.
Thanks for the input on the new Fender Mustang Uncle J. I was wondering about that this afternoon looking at one in the local music emporium.
I love my Micro, also. It really pushes the air when you sit next to it and play. I think it works well with piezos, also.
I have several decent amps, anc I can't help but come back to my little cube. Got mine at GC for about $130. Keep checking the pawn shops too. Thinking about getting a second on to sing and play harp out of.
