This does'nt exactly answer your question, but this is my low budget answer -  if you have a decent video recorder( some models the audio is'nt too bad - much better than going straight into the computer anyhow. Download the video file and open in movie maker. There you can split the audio and video. You can than open the audio file up in audacity and edit.

Yeah Dan, I knew about that group. I guess ACTIVE is the operative word here though.......

I guess its up to us to start learning, recording and posting there.

(Theres another redundant collaborations group and someone started a Garage Band users group too, neither of which were very active last time I checked.)

Wade makes a valid point. There are many ways to skin this cat, including video recorders, (Some are geared toward pretty good sound recording, even the lower end ones do pretty good sometimes.) Then there are the dedicated digital audio recorders too.

I have not yet figgered how this board works for newbies like me...

Is there somewhere to find advice on home recording gear?

I saw a Zoom H4...  ???

What can I use to sit outside and record playing my Diddley Bow?

...and possibly sync with video recorder in future?

Sry, where should this be posted???

...but it sounds similar to the same you are trying to solve???

I have not yet figgered out the 'groups' thingy, either!  lol

It will take me a while to get up to speed.
