i built a diddley bow and im now making some adjustments on it. I found this pickup and it only looks like it have one wire coming from it. i thought there were supposed to be at least two wires coming from these? maybe a red and a black. if you scroll down the page, it looks as though one pickup has a red wire and the other has a black. i dont want to ask the seller about it because he might lie to me just for me to buy the thing. what do you guys think? and is there a thread showing people how to solder a pickup to an audio jack?

That's a good price for a pair of general purpose humbuckers, but why not use something like this? It's a single pole hand wound pcikup I made for this diddly bow hockey stick cbg.

I can make you a single pole pickup for this if you like.

and I can pre-wire a jack for you.

A one string, surface mount pickup for a diddly bow:

how much would u charge?

If you look carefully at the last picture, you can see the wire sticking out is a shielded coaxial wire.

You're right: All coils have to hookup with 2 wires.  If you're hooking up a jack, it's center wire to the jack tip, and ground (outer) wire to the outer ring on the jack.

There are wiring diagrams here if you're going to use volume and tone pots: http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/hamvt-1

Note the DOT on the wiring diagram shows you need to solder a ground to the body of the pot to reduce noise.  If you need some shielded wire, I can send you enough for that project...  I picked up a XM radio antenna wire at a surplus shop and I've been using it for all my CBG's.  PM me your address.  I don't have a ton, but I can spare 18".

One question:  Do you really need a humbucker for a single string DB?

This would probably work just as well, and be easier to install:

or:

or???

Get some 40 gauge magnet wire, and the wife's sewing machine... wind a pickup on a plastic bobbin.  Add a magnet to the center and POW, instant DB pickup!
