It would work and work well just not for a bass scale length. If I could make a suggestion as your neck ,scale length is longer. Cut a rectangular hole in the forward lower part of your box the same size as the mounting area of the neck, where the four mounting screws go into the neck. Cut and plane a piece of hardwood that will extend outside the box enough to firmly screw the neck to and long enough to go all the the way to the back end of the box. This board needs to be thick enough so the bottom edge of the fingerboard is above the surface of the box. Just like a guitar. You will glue this board to the bottom of your box. You will not have to route a area for the neck to sit in. You will need a long enough box, bigger the better to be able to maintain the 34" scale. In other words your neck will NOT inset into the box, it will be flush mounted to the forward edge of your box and your bridge may be mounted at the very end of the box. If any of this needs clarification please ask.

Nope , ya can't do it . It won't work.

The bass on the right is a full blown CBG build. 34" scale, piezo and j pick-up.
The on eon the left is a "hybrid". Regular neck, cgb body.
I put a piece of wood in the box from end to end. Cut the hole for the neck, located everything, and took the wood back out and cut a neck pocket. This is a 32" scale .... I have no idea what the original bass was .... but I see no reason this wouldn't work with a 34" scale.

When the body basically fell apart ... IT WAS ON!

IMHO ... Get the biggest stinkin' box you can find ... or get the nicxest box , or get whatever you want ..... the box isn't really gonna do much with the split P's in it. But I wouldn't do both ( P pup and piezo ) unless ypu want to do a lot of fiddlin' around to get it right. The impedance mismatch between the pup and piezo can ( but might not ) cause problems.

If you're not terribly attached to using a "cigar box", you could use an Ammo can or circuit breaker box.

To build one as a full blown cbg ........ it'll be more of and acoustic/electric. The bigger box may be good.
To do the "hybrid" thing, the box size only really matters as to looks, cuz it'll pretty much be an electric bass with maybe a hollowbody type-ish sound.
