Metal Cigar Box

I just came across two metal cigar boxes. I have never seen these before. They look like fun to work with, but I'm curious what anyone knows about these - and about using them for CBGs?

I actually have made one with that same box, built it for Keni Lee.

You need to give careful consideration to the neck layout and bracing. The metal tends to cave in quite a bit from the pressure on the bridge.

That is great. Fantastic sound.

I'm a novice, though. Help me understand how it would give in if the neck goes through the body. I thought that was taking the pressure. I'm missing something, but not too dumb to ask.

You're correct, Jason. The pass through neck carries all the string pressure while the box simply functions as a sounding board. The exception might be if the bridge/saddle was being forced down on the box lid because there was no neck support directly beneath it.
