Hi, I'm pretty new here, so I thought I should start somewhere.  I picked up this gorgeous perdomo cigar box last week, and want to turn it into a 4 stringer with a hardtail bridge. the picture doesn't do it justice, as in real life it's a deep shade of red. I know roughly where I want the bridge and pickup to go (see picture), and want to put the volume and tone knobs in the corner below the bridge.  (By the way, to forestall any confusion, I am a lefty.) I plan on putting a soundhole or two in the face of the guitar, and string the guitar through the body with a block of wood sitting directly below the bridge to mount and guide the strings. how hard will it be to reach and attach the pots through the soundholes?  If I mount the strings and neck the way I plan to, the box will be impossible to open.  so speaking from experience, will it be at least doable to attach the pots by way of going through the soundhole, or will I need to redesign to allow the box to open and allow greater accessibility?  thanks for letting me talk your ear off awhile.

sure   ,  pretty  easy  to  fish pots and a  jack  through   a   sound hole  with  string    or  wire  and a  magnet  ..  ive  done   it  many times ,  usually  installing   or re-installing  one  on a   prebuilt  guit  or a  hollow-body  factory.  and yours  is a  pretty  small  box  , so  even  easier   .

if  you are talking about your initial install  .   im a bit  confused   why   you  cant   do  it  first .

yeah, that was what I was planning on doing, but for some reason a friend of mine who's been helping and making suggestions had me convinced that I wouldn't be able to do it that way.  Thanks!

Pick is right, it can be done that way. But you can also install your controls and pickup prior to installing the neck and closing the box, if you plan your sequences well.

How about an access panel in the back of the body....
