I am trying to use a mini humbucker and a piezo together and only using one input jack. I have not had any success at trying this. If anyone has been successful at this ,,,,your input would be much apreciated.

Hi Jim,

I do this using a 3 way switch - This then gives you the option of magnetic pickup/both/piezo.

I use the wiring diagram for a telecaster from artecsound http://www.artecsound.com/wiring/wiring_book01.pdf (page 11 of the pdf) substituting the minihumbucker for the neck pickup in the diagram and the piezo for the bridge pickup in the diagram. if you do not want to use a volume or tone pot just omit these and wire directly from the 3 way switch to the jack.
Hi David,,,Thanks for the quick reply....Have you actually done this or is this an on paper theory??????
Jim
Hi Jim, I have done this several times - the last one I did is here

it looks more complex than the simple artecsound schematic because I also added a push/pull pot to coil tap the minihumbucker and also added an onboard mini amp. I would suggest you also check out the Seymour Duncan wiring diagrams to see which you find easiest to follow http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ It is far easier to do than it first appears and if I can manage it anyone can. Regards, David

Hi Jim,

I made a video previously when someone asked this same question (easier than trying to express in words).

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/comparing-cbg-pickups

This particular CBG set up includes 2 minihumbuckers and piezos wired via a 5way switch to a preamp - for part of the video the preamp is on bypass so it still shows what sound you will get using a single humbucker/piezo/3 way switch without a preamp.

Regards,
David
Hi David,,, And thank you for the info re-mixing humbuckers and piezos. I am going to give it a go on the next build.
Thanks Again
Jim

i would use my hands and some tools to do this... just my 2 cents...
Hi Dave, I went and bought a Fender Tele 3 way switch but,,,it does not look anything like the one in the drawing. Can you clearify this for me?????

Hi Jim, The ones I use are like the one shown in the artec sound wiring diagrams and have all the solder points to one side of the switch. Another configuration I know of is shown in the Seymour Duncan diagram and has the solder points on alternating sides.

I am guessing the one you bought is like this one? David
Hi David,,,Yes the switch that I got is like the one in this drawing. Where can I get one that is in the artec drawing?? In this drawing do you use the top pickup for the mini humbucker and the bottom for the piezo?? Jim
