Anybody have experience with these necks?  Go for anywhere from 50 to 70 bucks on Ebay, AliExpress and Amazon.  Chinese.  Heres the AliExpress link.  AliExpress CBG Neck  Looks like its got a truss rod?

Hi ghm, I cant advise you on the quality, but it does look good in the photo. It sounds expensive to me though, that's around $125.00au, I'm geussing. And you don't really need the truss rod.

I have used many Chinese 6 string necks, but they have been taken off of Chinese 6 string guitars because the owners thought they were crap, but good enough for a CBG that I set up for slide. Do you know what they are made of? I'd be looking at what Gitty has on offer. At least its easier to return if you have a concern.

Taff

I'm with Taffy on this one. The price is up there for a CBG component. The size is correct at 1 1/2" width and I'm guessing that the scale is 25" although it doesn't say so. The back of the neck is nicely rounded so I'm assuming it comes out of one of the plants that produce 6 string necks.

There is definitely no need for a truss rod on a three or four stringer. A fully fretted hard maple neck from Gitty is only about $49 and they are offering a 20% off sale at the moment. That makes it around $40 total. And, as Taffy says, a lot easier to return if there is a problem.

Of course, one of the most satisfying parts of building is designing and building a nicely tapered and well rounded neck with a great looking scarf joint and head stock.

Everyone has there own preferences, so do what you thing is best for your, but be sure to look around for all the alternatives before plunking down you money.

I threw caution to the wind and got a cheap Chinese neck off of amazon. I got what i paid for and nothing else. Completely useless. It's got an S warp on the headstock side. No truss rod will ever get that out. Personally I'd stick with a business that stands behind what they sell. They'll eyeball it before they send it your way.

A fool and his money! Its like buying from Harbor Freight, somethings you buy and there's things you don't! These sound like they fall in "the things you don't" category. Buyer beware!

That pic looks like ones sold by MGB .,.,I did not know they were Chinese .,.,quality controls is the main thing.,., buy from someone that will let you return it if it is concave or convex, or warped.,., I always select kiln dried dead flat boards to build my necks.,. I tried a MGB zippy neck and it is ok, a decent deal.,.,but with a 20" I had to play with the string gauges to make it play right..,. for CBG's I will continue to build my own necks.,.,customer's comment that mine sound better, because I like a dead flat FB., and level the frets to eliminate any buzzy notes.,.  and the frets in the Zippy neck are too small for my liking.,.,I prefer med/jumbo.,.,or jumbo frets.,,..

Yeah, it looks like it came from the same factory that does all those cheap $30 strat style necks you see on ebay.  Probably attempting to expand into the CBG business.   If it were $25 I would be tempted to try one just for grins.  But at the present price point of $50 - $70 I'll just order something from Gitty or MGB.
