I am new to the whole cigar box world, but the delta blues sound is what drew me to this. I started out purchasing a 4 string from Daddy Mojo. It came with electric strings on  the light side. I can't seem to reproduce the sound I am after (missisippi/ delta sound) Are the strings the issue or maybe a cheap amp. The guitar came with a humbucker as well as a piezo, so I assume acoustic or electric would work. If anyone can give me some tips I would certainly appreciate it. I have since started my own guitar with a bunch of cool finds, but need to figure this out. I have ordered a few dvds but the havent arrived yet.

Thanks in advance

If you dont care about the humbucker function. And your looking for acoustic tone and piezo use only, Try restringing with Bronze acoustic strings. If you wanna use that humbucker you need to stay with the nickle. Thats the reason I build one or the other. Elec or acoustic not both in one.(except the occasional piezo) The piezo will give you acoustic string response. Which is not quite the same as a Mag pickup. But Nickle strings never have what it takes acoustically when compared to bronze.
Hello,

Yes, definitely string gauge is an important consideration. On my four string that I keep tuned to Open G (Dgbd), I use medium gauge strings. Additionally, for better string tension for the slide on the high d string, I replace the .013 with a .016
Use Nickel strings for electric pick-up
D (.036) g (.026) b (.018) d (.016)

I think you find it very helpful if you are interested in learning the Delta style.
Please feel free to write if I can be of any further assistance. Enjoy, Keni Lee
