L.J. replied to Eric Fleck's discussion Question: Better Amp vs Blues Pedal

L.J. replied to Ken Henry's discussion fretboard radiusing

L.J. ( LITTLE JOHNS CIGARBOX GUITARS )

www.littlejohnscigarboxguitars.com My name is Johnny Yowell Jr. My nickname is LJey. (means lil johnny). I have been building about a year. I started right after I quit smoking ciggarettes and picked up cigars. When I quit smoking cigars I had a couple boxes lying around the house. Guitar world mag was advertising some mojo brand and I decided to build my own.I dug around the net. and found some help with basic design.Built my first cbg in 1 day. It wasnt bad except the strings were cutting in.
The sound grabbed me. had to build another that the strings wouldnt cut through. I got hooked! Im a lifer now.It takes me more than a day to build one now. But the quality is improving as I learn.
I was so excited about finding Cigar Box Nation. And the different ways people approach this is great.
So far I keep it pretty simple. But I'm doing a lil somthin different almost every time.I like vintage guitars and tube amps. So I guess the CBG is about as vintage as it gets.

Personally, I have a beautiful wife of 18 years. 18 really good years. And an awesome little boy.He makes me proud everyday. i run a small fammily roofing co in Land O Lakes FL. We do all our work with our own crew (no subs) meaning we care about doing our job right the first time. Our service is unmatched in every area except speed. We cannot compete with the big companies that do your roof in a day. We think it's best not to rush it.

We attend Baylife Church in Brandon.Great church. They let me serve in the band. (They havent let me CBG yett but I'm sure they will find room for it someday.)And my wife takes care of the kids.

CBN is great! Thanks for the vision Shane.

Yes, very much a beginner. I've tried picking up guitar a few times in my life but became discourged easily(left handed and big fingers). I'm having a ball now and it's now obvious I should have left the 6 stringers alone. ;)

hey bro ll jj a biscuit piezo is a new thing for me.its the first time i ever tried it,what i did is install a piezo element inside the biscuit of the resonator that sets under the bolt bridge and sets on three cans inside the box. so its wired hot direct,i plan on getting a live oak 3 pole pup to install and then run a blend pot between the 2 powerplants. ought to be an interesting combination. thanks for the comment.

Your very welcome bro!!! You have some nice builds there. I can't wait till I get to that level of building!!!! As far as the Edge box, I am going to have to pass. I am saving that one for a future build. I know how hard it is to find one of them, and I was lucky that a friend had it and was able to let it go!!!!!!!

Don't worry about building a lefty before the gathering. Let's just see if I have anything you want. I'm really intrigued by your LBow. Don't know if he's on here but DF Duck is the 1st guy I ever heard of building a 2 string DB & that was at least 7 years ago. I love the longer scale & deep bass of yours, I'd want the strings much closer so I could pluck them. I look forward to meeting you LJ.
