Biscuit tin guitar build - any tips compared to a CBG (plus pics of build #1)?

I have finally completed my first ever CBG build, and loved it.  Pretty simple, and I got the parts from a couple of CBGers who are based in Queensland (Paul Thorley & his partner) after I ran into them at a market.  Strung for a leftie, plus I made the Gitty amp kit to go with it.

Pics attahced!

Anyway, for my next one I picked up a round biscuit tin.  So interested to know if there's anything I should take into account or do differently from a wood CBG?  I'll do another search of the forums, I've seen a few tips on using them but not an overall answer on anything really different required.

In particular, is a pizeo sufficient for a pickup (and as with a CB I guess leaving a gap underneath so it resonates) or should I go for a wound pickup?

Thanks in advance!

Darren

Nice pair Darren, I commented on your other thread btw, but as to your biscuit tin, the piezo will work, but like in a wooden box, it will pick up all the handling noises, but even more so, that being the case, you will need to dampen it a bit, either in glue, silicon, sandwiched between a couple of pieces of soft wood or similar, i suggest not glueing it finally in place until you,ve got the damping to your satisfaction, you just need to test and adjust to suit how YOU want it to sound, you could also add a 0.01 uf capacitor across the jack terminals to help tame it a bit. Magnetic pups work great in tinnies, as you can just put them inside the box out of sight and they read the vibrations of the box instead of reading the strings directly, or you can fit them conventionally on top, under the strings

Thanks again!  Since I'll do more anyway, I may order a pizeo and pickup with my next order and try them out before finalizing the build.  I was going to string and tune it higher than the CBG to get a different sound - I picture it more banjo/plucked violin sounding for some sea shanties given the artwork on the tin :-)

And I've just seen some diddley bow videos, so now want to make one of them too!
