Well, it looks like it works, but that's not the way I would do it.
A few more minutes work and you can have a much, much better instrument.

And I guess his eye-bolt trick would work ... it's just un-locking , tuning, and re-locking with the wing-nut. But I ve never been able to get eye-bolts to work weel enuff to use.

If you are looking for plans or instructions .... go HERE.

I hates eyebolts. Not enough control and they slip. If you don't use machined tuners, go with wooden tuning pegs. The holes need to be tapered if I understand right tho.

Yeah, do a search ..... google is your friend ..... and you can find instruction on how to make a reamer and tper jig for wooden pegs. It's a lot o work, no-doubt, but when I done it is was tres cool!

Keep reading on here, that is a toy compared to what the members in here are making. You can do better and will be happier with good tuners in the end. I tried eye bolts and got a one string to work pretty well, but the cheap store bought tuners are so much easier and they stay in tune longer.
#1 - i would avoid pvc. 1x2 pine is just as cheap, just as easy to work with, and it's square, which is much better for mounting to other stuff
#2 - plastic zip ties make poor frets. i've tried them. they're soft and muddle the sound terribly.
#3 - these guys should get a CLUE! in both of their home-made guitar videos, the builder neither plays an instrument, nor knows what they should even sound like. they'd have a lot more success if the had an actual PLAYER build the thing, so they could fine tune the instrument, and actually show off what it can do, rather than shrug sheepishly and make plunking noises. how sad. -rolls eyes- what's the point of making a video and going to all the trouble of building the thing, and then making us watch the whole thing, when you can't provide the satisfying follow-up, where you actually PLAY the danged thing???

EYE BOLTS
i use eye bolts on everything i build. they work great. i never have a problem with slippage. HOWEVER, i use wood 1x2 necks that the washers can grip a bit. i can't imagine trying to use eye bolts on anything hard or smooth. like any friction tuned system, its s short learning curve, but once you're used to using them, it's not hard. they're very reliable. my guitars stay tuned for weeks without needing re-adjustment, and setting up a CBG with eye bolt tuners is the easiest and most basic setup, where using real tuners, you have to thin out the head, or angle it back..
but that's just me. i enjoy taking a cheap hardware store part and making it work. i've worked quite hard to figure out how to use eye bolts effectively, and i've proven that it can be done, repeatedly.

i may attempt friction peg tuners in the future, but ultimately, eye bolts are cheaper and easier to employ... and i've never had to make any special reaming tools to install them.

... just saying.

basically, it all comes down to trial, error, and motivation. i've found that there are many ways to solve the basic build questions of guitars. you have to try EVERY idea that comes in to your head. you'll find some things that work, others that don't and most importantly, you'll find things that YOU JUST KNOW will work, once you figure out -just-how- to do it... that's where patience comes in. skill is a cumulative thing, it only comes with effort.

if you want the most successful examples of the most basic approaches, check my profile, and my youtube channel (search youtube for unstrung13)

have a great day guys!
