2011 Cigar Box Nation Christmas Album
I know it seems early, but Christmas will be here before you know it.
Shane had organized the Christmas albums in the past, but in his absence, CB Gitty asked me if I would like to coordinate it for this year.
For any of the new folks here on the Nation, we have compiled a yearly album of songs played, composed, sung, or whatever, by our members. The primary requirement is that the recording be of fairly good quality. For example, If you are singing, we want to be able to hear your voice. You get my drift...
The 2009 Christmas album contained 23 songs, and the 2010 Christmas contained 40 songs. More songs is not necessarily better, but we really don't have a limit on the number of songs we can include.
You can submit a cover of a traditional song, or you can do something you wrote/composed yourself.
Please respond in this thread if you would like to participate, and include the song that you would like to have included in the album. Once we have the final album compiled, it will be posted as a free download, and anyone will be able to download it. So, you will be able to pass the links along to your friends and family.
I will post more information later.
Thanks
Dan

That is Beautiful. Thank you. I could listen to a whole album of you and that instrument.

Here's my submission--'Gloria in Excelsis Deo' played on simple homemade boxharp...
Mike,
MP3 will be just fine.
Thanks

Hey Dan,
What audio format should we use for the song submission? Also I like the idea of posting links to the contributors' sites.
Thanks!
Thank you Sir. See Ya
I'll chip in. Here's Jingle Bell Rock on Cigar Box Ukulele and a stand up orchestra bass my school let me borrow. And a link to my page would be sufficient.
Got it, thanks!

Links is good.
Bacon is better :-)
Hi Dan.
My contribution to this years album will be the following:
Sugimugi - "Winter Flavours" (written by myself)
(instead of 14. Thorsten Hinrichsen - TBA; Sugimugi is one of the names which I when I put out some songs)
It will follow as soon as I have done the mastering.
Thanks.
Thorsten
Hi Dan.
Here's my song. I played my "Gata Blanca" 4-String CBG (4th build) on the left and on the right speaker (with different virtual amp settings). Bass is performed with my "Subkitty" 3-String Bass Cigar Box Ukulele. As you hear, English is not my mother tongue but I hope everything's understandable. "Hot spiced cider", for instance, is a popular alcoholic drink in winter here in Austria.
I'll probably put out a video clip soon. Hope some people will like this.
Thanks
Thorsten / Sugimugi
Excellent! Got it...

Just a reminder to everyone who has not submitted their song yet, I would like to have everyone's songs by the first of December. This will give me time to get them organized and zipped up into a downloadable file.
If you wind up being a little late and don't make the December 1st deadline, that's OK, I just want to have it ready for downloading in plenty of time for Christmas. So try to get them done and turned in.
Thanks!
Dan
OK here's mine: Slow Roast:
Jim, what's wrong with that? It's excellent!
